To meet the increased demand, the Bank of Russia is increasing the issuance of cash to banks to replenish ATMs, follows from the press service of the regulator.
“The demand for cash has grown in recent days. The Bank of Russia continuously provides cash to banks for loading into ATMs during the working week. To meet the increased demand, the Bank of Russia has increased the issuance of cash to banks, and the replenishment of ATMs will continue this weekend.
According to the Bank of Russia, the volume of banknotes ready for loading into ATMs is more than sufficient. “All customer funds on bank accounts are fully preserved and available for any transactions,” the Central Bank of the Russian Federation notes.
According to the materials of the regulator, the demand of individuals and legal entities for cash, as of February 24, increased 58 times – to 111.3 billion rubles (on February 22, such demand was 1.9 billion rubles, on February 21 – 22.3 billion rubles). This was the highest level since March 2020, when the demand for cash amid the announcement of the coronavirus pandemic in the world reached 175 billion rubles.
