Italy’s economy grew by 1% in the second quarter compared to the previous three months, preliminary data from the statistical agency Istat showed. In the first quarter, quarterly GDP growth was 0.3%.
Analysts polled by Trading Economics, on average, predicted only a slight increase in GDP, by 0.1%.
In annual terms, the Italian economy in April-June jumped by 4.6% instead of the expected increase of 3.7%.
