Oil production in Russia in the first half of 2022 increased by 3.4% year-on-year, production of petroleum products – by 4.5%, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
The minister noted that the energy sectors performed well in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, despite the fact that work is being carried out in difficult economic conditions.
„Oil production for 6 months exceeds last year’s level by 3.4%, electricity production – by 1.9%, which means that electricity consumption is approximately the same amount higher. Coal production is approximately at the level of last year. Production of gasoline, diesel fuel by 4 5% higher than last year. For known reasons, gas is still in the red by 5%. The domestic market is stable, consumers are provided with all types of energy resources. There are no problems with the supply of energy resources,” he said.
Putin asked: „And the volume of oil for export, have they also been increased?”
„Yes, they have been increased,” Shulginov answered.
The President noted that in the first four months of 2022, „there was a slight decrease in the production of petroleum products.”
„They increased it by almost 5%,” the minister confirmed.
The head of the Ministry of Energy also stressed that a few months ago, work began on preparing for winter: “This is one of the priorities of today’s work. And we are preparing for this difficult period, realizing that our partners, for example, in unfriendly countries, are nervously anticipating the onset of such a particularly difficult period. We are working on the basis of our plans and schedules in the regular mode. Schedules are formed based on the analytics of the past open-ended period and the instructions that you gave when assessing readiness for the open-ended period in December last year.”
Shulginov noted that there are no problems with the accumulation of all types of fuel: reserve, main, emergency. In terms of repairs, a more flexible planning system will be used „with the transition to a repair effect based on technical condition, and not on scheduled preventive maintenance.” „It’s faster and pretty high quality,” he said.
Shulginov also noted that there are no problems with the northern delivery: contracts have been concluded, planned deliveries are underway. „In August, we should start already testing readiness by district, starting in August (usually from August). Somewhere by November, we will already make an assessment and report to the government on readiness for winter,” he added.
